store & store music
For the last weeks i have been seeking for a nice store to rent so that i can, as mentioned before, represent my freelancing work as online project developer but also as the REPLIKATOR headquarter.
As this is the first time that i am moving outside of my flat i have been calculating a lot about the costs and risks that i am going to take or might confrontate.

Just ink this thoughtflow i had about hurdles that might appear: when clients pay me a visit, i want to offer them a cup of coffee. Therefor i need a coffee machine. As some might want a capuccino i also need milk. Fresh milk, therefor i need a fridge. The que grows bigger the more you think about it - this suxXx :(

But asto reduce my costs as much as possible i also had a splendid idea that i might promote here in Hamburg to many many other stores to minimize their monthly expenses!
As i do not want to have a quiet room, i want to play music. If i play music in public, i have to pay the so called GEMA fee. Some kind of fixed value depending on the size of your store and what kind of store it is. That would be a fee of approx. 50 EUROs per month. Money that i can spend much better into books or prints. So how to eliminate this fee?

sticker_ladenSolution: netlabels !
I am only going to play netlabel music inside the REPLIKATOR store. I have developed a sticker that i will put right next to the entrance of the store to promote the creative commons netlabels projects out there.
And whenever i add a new song, EP or artist to the playlist i will mention it in here to support even much more. I am excited to see what happens as soon as some GEMA representative shows up for the first time at the store...

Print Print PRINTS
For the last 9 days i have struggled with a cold. What for others might be an excuse in my case means that i stay at home and had a lot of time to develop new designs. There are now 20 (!) prints available and much more scribbled down on my blackbook.
At the moment i am having many thoughts about two main things concerning this project.

// 1. Print or Poster !?
I do not know the english term for the difference of these products. Through the last days i have been trying to figure out not only its difference by quality, but also by price. And least makes it more understandable for me to offer it as PRINT and not as POSTER.
The decision was easy for me to take when i had to realize that a poster print is much much MUCH more expensive then an offset print.
In short words: a DIN A0 poster would cost me round about 45 Euros per print ! *sigh*
A Print is at the close at half of that price and THAT is a good reason to choose this kind of production.
And instead of printing just a handfull of posters, i am able to print up to 50 at the same time of production. Though i do not think that selling them will be as fast like that, it sounds more reasonable for me.

// 2. Online or Offline or Online AND Offline !?
I have been working as a freelancer now for over a decade. I think that it is time to move out of my flat as bureau and get me a ... let's call it "real headquarter". So i started to look out for some stores to rent and found one but will have to pray to get it.

80 HTML colornames....
80 html colornamesCan you remember all the HTML colors that exist? Nah, i am not talking about the 64 Million! I am talking about those that once started as great 16 and now are dozens: HTML colornames. The second poster i did is entitled like that because it features 80 colors so that you can have a glance at them whenever you want.

First poster inside :)
first replikator productThe first product is online! It's a poster showing the measurements of the available space on the Firefox browser at a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels.
It should be of any help to those who would like to have a permanent view of how much space there is on the FF in case you want to design a 100% space taking full screen Flash Animation or develop a website where you do not need to scroll.

Here we are
Ok, after about a decade since i bought this domain i thought that it might be the best one for this project. Finally :)
After developing the logo, i started the page layout through Joomla and Virtuemart and by now all seems to work fine and look imho good. I will now configure the mart system and start to design the first posters. In other words: this is going to be a great weekend :)
